Just returned home from a trip to the Tatra Mountains, the highest mountain range in Poland, the only Alpine mountains in this part of Europe. Although not everything went as planned, the trip was a success, and one day that I spent in the high parts of the mountains (over 6000 feet) was absolutely spectacular. Encountered a herd of chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra), but because they were grazing on an open slope, I didn't even try to get any closer to them than what you can see in the photos. Well, it is a National Park after all, so you're not supposed to wander off the marked trails. Also, I had an encounter with a white-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus), a most interesting bird, diving in the waters of one of the mountain streams (photos to be uploaded later).
Overall, a fine experience. Especially that, for various reasons, I don't know when I'm going to have a chance to visit the Tatras again in the foreseeable future.
Enjoy the pics I took there, comment on them, fave them if you like any
