I shot this little bird (smaller than a sparrow) a few moments ago in my backyard. Could anyone tell me what species this is?

Really good looking close portrait. Even when background came a bit dark the bird looks bright and nicely glowing. It makes actually pretty nice contrast to the background and the bird is easy to look at. Very nice details. :) I can just guess what bird it may be... some birds seem to be hard to recognize even for the experts...

I think it's a young wren. And yes, it was amazing how close it allowed me to be approached. Naturally, I was shooting like mad with each step forwards I made :)
As to te contrast with the background, it was first sitting in a shadow, but then moved to the sunlight as if knowing it would make for better photos. It did. The ones with the birdie in the shadow are hnot so good.

Lovely pic! Could it be a kind of warbler with this thin and long beak?

I think it is a young wren, but it could be some kind of a warbler as well. God knows with those chicks :)

As it is an European bird, I can't help you... Beautiful bird though!

Beautiful it is, true. But having seen it - and its adult parents - around in my garden several times since the photo was taken, I am more and more convinced that it is a young wren.

You are probably right if you have seen these birds several times...

Found another option, possibly a young goldcrest?

Please, let me know if you find out, I'm really curious. :)

Oh no, it definitely is not a goldcrest. I have never seen adult goldcrests around here, and I would surely have recognised them.
