A female Eurasian Siskin (Carduelis spinus) turned out to be extremely approachable today. I just loved the sharp feathers of the wings against the fluffiness of the body.
Thank you Getting so close was possible because the little thing seemed to be in a shock from either hitting a window pane, or being attackecd by some bigger bird. Whatever'd happened, It didn't mind me getting really close. As you probably know, the siskin are considerably smaller than e.g. sparrows, so it was unusual to get such a close-up
It did recover, no worries. The same couple of siskins (there was only one hanging around my backyard) was spotted the next day. And the next. So all ended well for the little fellow
